1. Which location and time period did you choose to represent in your trebuchet design? How does your trebuchet represent this location and time period? Me and my partner chose a 14th century chinese trebuchet we incorporated the colors that the old ones had 2. The 21st century skills involved in this project were creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication. Which of these skills do you feel was your strongest soft skill during this project? Which do you feel was your greatest area of growth? Reflect an and describe why you selected these skills, and support your response with direct evidence from the project. The biggest 21st century skill I used was collaboration because me and my partner worked well together and our finished project was pretty good.
Rube goldberg reflection
Our rube goldberg machine demonstrated a pulley. A ball went into a bucket using a pulley. I used an inclined plane the ball fell in it. Lever when it was lifted a marble fell down and went down the ramp the physics principles used in our rube are potential energy and kinetic energy and inertia the first step used potential energy that was when the ball was at its highest point before it dropped into its steepest incline plane in our rube. Kinetic energy was used in the rat trap that was in the last step the ball was traveling the fastest the tetherball used inertia because another object hit the ball and inertia keep it moving PE=(m)(g)(h) m=7.0g = 0.007kg g=9.81m/s2 h=50cm = .5m PE=(0.007kg)(9.81m/s2)(0.5m)=0.0343J When the ball lands in the bucket it will have velocity. I will calculate the kinetic energy of the ball by first, converting the mass from grams to kilograms, then converting the velocity from centimeters to second to meters to second. After that, I will put everything together and solve it. This is my work
KE=(½)(m)(v2) m=7g = 0.007kg v=45c/s = 0.45m/s KE=(½)(0.007kg)(0.45m/s2)=0.00070875J When we first started our rube and began brainstorming ideas I couldn't think of anything so I started looking at images on the internet when I found a step I drew it out to see how it would fit with the rest of the grupes once we got all of our materials and built our steps together I was surprised on how much we had to move and adjust our steps until it worked constantly. My step was not as good as I was hoping it to be I feel like I could have put more effort and thought into it. An area of growth is perseverance because I often get side tracked and wont get my work done to my best ability. My strength is collaboration because I felt that I would listen and help my group members.
